The struggle to maintain a transit system here has now been going on for 20 years. There was a near shut down Nine years ago, several referendum fights and finally restoration of the system. It took years to get the system back to the pre shut down levels it achieved. During shut down families without access to employment were destroyed. As an area with a large tourism and medical industry, transit isn't optional here.
